PHCCIMA REPRESENTED AT PRESTIGIOUS CANADIAN CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING CONFERENCE IN TORONTO

The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) recorded another milestone on the international stage as Chief David Ofoegbu, Chairman of the Chamber’s Chemical and Allied Services Trade Group, represented the Chamber at the prestigious 2026 Conference and Exhibition jointly organized by the Canadian Society for Chemistry and the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering.

The high-profile event, held from May 24 to May 28, 2026, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, brought together more than 2,400 delegates from academia, industry, government, and research institutions across the globe, making it one of the largest gatherings of professionals in the chemical sciences and engineering sectors.

Held under the theme “Erasing Boundaries,” the conference emphasized multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation, fostering stronger connections between chemical sciences, engineering, technology, and industry. Participants engaged in a rich programme featuring plenary lectures, technical sessions, oral and poster presentations, exhibitions, and networking engagements designed to drive scientific advancement and industrial growth.

The conference also featured specialized workshops and industry-led sessions hosted by globally renowned organizations, including Bruker, HORIBA, and ATS Scientific, providing participants with valuable insights into emerging technologies, research breakthroughs, and best practices shaping the future of the sector.

Among the notable highlights were the SCI Canada Awards Gala Dinner and the CSC’s annual Chemistry Image Contest, which celebrated excellence, innovation, creativity, and outstanding contributions to the chemical sciences community.

Chief Ofoegbu’s participation underscores PHCCIMA’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, promoting knowledge exchange, and positioning Rivers State’s business and industrial community within global conversations on innovation, sustainable industrial development, and technological advancement.

His representation further reinforces PHCCIMA’s strategic vision of connecting local industries with international opportunities, strengthening capacity development, and encouraging the adoption of global best practices across Nigeria’s chemical and allied services sector.
